Hanuman ji is Pavan Putra (son of the wind), a great devotee of Ram ji, and a hero of the Ramayana. Children often learn from him: courage, loyalty, humility, and using strength to help others.
How to recognize (vessels of identity)
- Form: Monkey-faced (vanara) hero—strong body, long tail, often tilak on the forehead.
- Weapons: Gada (mace) is the usual emblem; sometimes he holds a mountain (Sanjivani tale).
- Dress: Simple cloth or battle harness in war scenes; hands folded (anjali) or kneeling when serving Ram ji.
- Flying or leaping poses show his divine speed and power.
- Panchmukhi: Five faces—often including Varaha, Garuda, and others, depending on the murti; each temple explains the story in its own way.
For Ram ji’s court with Maa Sita, Lakshman ji, and brothers, see Ram Darbar.
